“Bring Your Bible To School Day” is nationwide movement hosted by Colorado Springs. It’s a Colorado-based Focus on the Family that started in 2014. Just recently, they conducted its annual event and more than 300,000 students across the United States brought their own Bible with them to school as an expression of religious freedom and showcase evangelism.

Focus on the Family President Jim Daly had an eager expectation that this year’s “Bring Your Bible To School Day” will be bigger than ever.

“In 2014, around 8,000 students participated. But in 2015, that number exploded to more than 155,000 students from every state in the nation,” said Daly. He explained that the event is a simple action, bringing their Bibles to school, as a step to celebrate religious freedom and share God’s hope by students from kindergarten to college to their friends before and after classes.

In the past months, many schools have forbidden reading the Bible, praying, or any public exercise of the Christian faith within the school parameters. But despite that, many school administrators are strict with students’ expressions of faith. The event believes that every student has the right to express their faith in public school as long as they don’t disrupt instruction time. That’s why when Daly was asked what he hoped that people would bring home from the event, he answered, “[that] students would feel empowered to exercise their religious liberties, and to graciously and winsomely live out their faith.”

With the youth’s positive response to the event, Daly looks forward to many more years of reaching out to the next generation through many events such as this. “I think the exponential response among youth has do to with the fact that it’s something positive, redemptive, and tangible that Christian students can easily do in their schools to celebrate their faith — and to visibly see that they are joined by thousands nationwide,” he said.
