WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND? (PART 1)

ONE OF THE GREATEST THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU IN LIFE

One of the best friendships you could make while here on earth is with books. Indeed, books should be your best friends. Unfortunately, this wisdom has been turned upside down off recent. In our generation, instead of making friends with books, most people now make friends with the television. That friendship I will not call a healthy one. It is more destructive than you can imagine. This week our topic is not about television. I would talk to you about books as your best friend.

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”  ― Charles William Eliot

I started the introduction by talking about the best friendship we could keep on earth, which is friendship with books. Books will make a better person of you than most men would. Books will open your eyes to an extent that you could not imagine. Friendship with Books is indeed one of the most strategic friendships anyone could keep.

“Reading is like thinking, like praying, like talking to a friend, like expressing your ideas, like listening to other people’s ideas, like listening to music, like looking at the view, like taking a walk on the beach.”  ― Roberto Bolaño

One of the greatest things that could happen to you in life, is for you to be friends with books. Books contain truths. Truth has the capacity to set free. In one of those books, it talks about the truth in a very explicit way. It says “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” That is one of the things that books do to you. It empowers your mind; it strengthens your spirit. It gives you ingredients through which you become greater than your natural self.

Books contain truth. Truth, the known truth, sets people free. If you are friendly with books, you have the potential to be one of the freest men on earth. You’re free to fly, you’re free to soar, you’re free to rule, you’re free to dominate, and you’re free to reign.

“Some books leave us free and some books make us free.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Books contain patterns and models for building life. What a powerful asset that is. Can you imagine, you having access to models and patterns of how to build your life? Then your life would be void of unnecessary mistakes, tragedies and sorrows. You will be able to escape a lot of uncalled for mistakes that other people make in their lives on regular basis.

“Books say: She did this because. Life says: She did this. Books are where things are explained to you; life is where things aren’t. I’m not surprised some people prefer books. Books make sense of life. The only problem is that the lives they make sense of are other people’s lives, never your own.” ― Julian Barnes,

Books contain secrets like how to build your family. How to discover yourself, how to build a career. Books will teach you how to relate with finances, what to do with them and how to multiply them. Books will tell you about yourself, why you were born, why you were born where you were born, what you are born to do, etc.

To be continued tomorrow…
