WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND? (PART 3)

MY ALIBI FOR WHY BOOKS WILL NEVER BE REPLACED

Has anyone of you felt unwanted recently? From whom did you experience that? Of course from people. I am not saying you should not build relationships with people. What I am simply saying is that a lot of things we are expecting that people will do for us, we are actually supposed to do for ourselves by reading books. When you read books, you add value to yourself. The value you are expecting to receive from people around you, friends and relatives, you could actually do yourself that favor by befriending books.

“For books are not absolutely dead things, but do contain a potency of life in them to be as active as that soul was whose progeny they are; nay, they do preserve as in a vial the purest efficacy and extraction of that living intellect that bred them.” ― John Milton

Some of us might not be feeling any disappointment from people or friends, but we do feel lonely sometimes and we complain that we don’t have what to do. We really don’t have reasons to live in a state of loneliness as long as we can have friendship with books. Most of us struggle with feelings of boredom from time to time. That too could be handled by getting some interesting books into your life and simply consciously embrace the idea of making books your best friend.

That feeling of being unwanted, could vanish forever from your life simply because you discover the secret of friendship with books. A lot of the bitter experiences we are having in our lives, especially those caused by people who are near or dear to us, could really be either avoided or killed by simply relying less on people and more on adding value to yourselves through books.

“If you cannot read all your books…fondle them—peer into them, let them fall open where they will, read from the first sentence that arrests the eye, set them back on the shelves with your own hands, arrange them on your own plan so that you at least know where they are. Let them be your friends; let them, at any rate, be your acquaintances.” ― Winston S. Churchill

Let me tell you the truth, humans will never fully meet all your expectations. I am sure your next question will be, can books? Well if you get a hold of the right books, you will be less disappointed with them than humans. Especially if you are lucky enough to discover the secrets of the HOLY BIBLE. Your needs could be met in more ways than you could imagine.

Throughout ages, books have become a refuge to a lot of restless souls. It is my belief that nothing will ever replace books. People tell me today that because of the evolution of electronics, the days of books might just be over. I don’t think so. Books might be presented in various forms, but books will forever be books. I personally think I have a strong alibi to support my case.

“Please, no matter how we advance technologically, please don’t abandon the book. There is nothing in our material world more beautiful than the book.”  ― Patti Smith

When God wanted to save the world, He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of the world. However, when Jesus Christ left the earth, God sent His Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, He saw the need for Him to leave men with something tangible as His visible representation. That representation is the BIBLE. In other words, God sent His Son to save the world, but when He took His Son, He gave us His word – the BIBLE.

“The book to read is not the one which thinks for you, but the one which makes you think. No book in the world equals the Bible for that. – Harper Lee

The point I am trying to make friends is that, God in all his wisdom had access and possibilities to device any thinkable and unthinkable way of communicating with us, besides his word. Yet, in all his wisdom, the best even God Himself could come up with was the BIBLE. If God could not think of anything better than a book – the BIBLE, it means that books will always be with us. If God could not think of anything better than books, humans will not come up with anything better than books. That is my alibi, thereby I submit my case.

“For books are more than books, they are the life, the very heart and core of ages past, the reason why men worked and died, the essence and quintessence of their lives.” ― Marcus Tullius Cicero
