3 WAYS THAT BOOKS CAN GREATLY IMPACT YOUR LIFE

3. IT IS CHEAPER TO KEEP BOOK-FRIENDS THAN LIFE-FRIENDS.

A lot of us have paid a lot of prices for having friends. When you have money and resources, you have a lot of friends. Many people will be ready to be friends with you and help you spend your hard earned money. When you are with money and resources, all your friends are there to help you. They respond to all your calls. As soon as the money finishes, they say good bye and are nowhere to be found. But with books, you only need to spend money one time on it.

“A book is good company. It is full of conversation without loquacity. It comes to your longing with full instruction, but pursues you never. – Henry Ward Beecher

Once you buy any book for a certain amount of money, let’s say $20, it remains your friend forever unless you give it out. You don’t have to spend another $20 every year to keep it up. But with friends it is not so. You need money to keep on welcoming and entertaining them. Sometimes you need money to keep on impressing them. But also you sometimes need money to keep on proving to them that you deserve their friendship. Books in that case are more constant and reliable.

“When I have a little money, I buy books; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes.”  ― Desiderius Erasmus

4. BOOKS CAN SWING YOUR MOOD

If you happen to be in a bad mood or in an unsteady state of mind, if you would ever need to swing your mood for a new experience, the power of books is irreplaceable. Try it out when you are sad. If you are feeling gloomy, immerse yourself in books and you would be amazed at how easily things can turn around for you.

“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.” ― Anna Quindlen

Depression could be defeated by getting books that could help you address that situation. Feelings of sadness and frustrations could be healed just by reading related books. Even human friends don’t always know what to tell us at a time of need. Some try to pity us, others try to mock us, but books will be truthful with you.

Even if you want entertainment, books could provide this for you. Find some good comic books or satiric books. They would help you to a mood of laughter, which will give you an immediate swing of mood, from gloomy to glorious.

“Books are not made to be believed, but to be subjected to inquiry. When we consider a book, we mustn’t ask ourselves what it says but what it means…” ― Umberto Eco.

5. BOOKS – THE BEST WAY TO KILL TIME.

Too many people today are looking for what to do. Boredom has become a really big issue in our world today. Despite the availability of numerous TV channels, tablets, iPads and telephone gadgets. Most of our world still suffers more from depression and loneliness than ever before. As a result, many often wonder how they can “kill time.”

“What better place to kill time than a library?” ― Diane Setterfield

Well, the best way to kill time is not to gather among friends and talk about nothing, which could eventually result in fight and quarrels. It is much better to be alone with books and learn new things. Add some more value to yourself. It is even better than whiling the time away watching television. By reading books you could actually get yourself a new skill, profession or direction.

“I must say I find television very educational. The minute somebody turns it on, I go to the library and read a good book.” – Groucho Marx

Instead of killing time, you could be investing time. Instead of spending time, you could actually deposit time.
