How A Cancer Survivor Began Changing Her World After Meeting Dr. Sunday Adelaja- Ola Martin

I wrote this in my journal since June 13th, 2017. I just had the strength to send it to you.
God bless you for all you do and continue to do.

As I laid on the floor worshiping God and listening to Sunshine Chi Sandra’s praise session, I began to think back on how I encountered DSA and how my life changed.
In May 2016, as I laid in bed around 2am ET USA time, sick, in pain and couldn’t sleep; I saw my phone blinking, glanced at it and saw Pastor Sunday Adelaja’s live feed. I decided to watch/listen to him. That was it and that is how I started watching/listening to the daily broadcast. In pain, when I couldn’t even move, there was something to wake up for, there was something to look up to and there was something to wait for.Through the broadcast, DSA said something about getting to know your environment, surrounding or the community you live in. To be a change in that environment. I decided to check out the city that I live in. I went on my city of Stockbridge website and, just in that time, they were offering a class to get to know the city better. I registered for the class and, through aches, pains and sickness, I got to go to class every Thursday evening after Chemotherapy. In October 2016, I got my certificate and I was excited about it.

Then DSA was talking about HMT (History Makers Training) with Pastor Derek Schneider. I got excited in the spirit and decided that, no matter what I was going through, I was going for HMT in November 2016. Like Natural Beauty Anastasia would say, it’s all about the HMT. In November 2016, I went for HMT and from the airport I said wow they sure do practice what they preach. You could feel the love and appreciation of people. A young man called Igor met me at the airport, he got my bag, opened the car door for me and we went to the church. At the church, DSA was ministering and after we all went to his office. When I introduced myself, he was surprised and excited, he give me a hug and told me not to worry. Just for coming alone that he got me. WHO does that? Only a man who fears God and loves people regardless of who they are or where they are from. I started crying and everyone around was happy for me and couldn’t believe it.

Most men of God won’t even give you a hug or even let you get close to them with all their bodyguards around them. Talk less of them trying to help you without knowing you or you paying tithe in their church or offering. But with DSA, you can see the love of God eminent from him. A true man of God.

I couldn’t do much at HMT because of aches/pains, muscle spasms and I was exempted from most. But one thing I sure took from HMT is investing in yourself by adding value to yourself and to others. No matter what you have or how much you have, invest in others and yourself. Also once you know your calling or purpose pursue it and everything else will fall into place.

When I got back home, I had to start treatment again and everything slowed down. Then one morning I woke up and my mailbox (messenger) was filled with everyone asking what happened to DSA’s page? I was speechless and clueless and did not know the answer to that. There was no more DSA platform.
Through the platform, I have met great, good, awesome and genuine people. I have met some not so good. I have met people that took his teachings and changed their lives and that of others.

The Lord had been laying it on my heart to do something for the youth. So on my birthday April 22nd, 2017, I gave God praise for life and decided that it is not about me but about others. But before then in 2016, precisely on June 4,2016, I had spoken at a cancer survivor program at Dekalb Medical Center encouraging cancer patients never to give up. So on my birthday, I and some wonderful, blessed sisters that I met on the platform (Pearl Davis and Shola Lamodi) with my kids, we took breakfast and some basic commodities to the youth shelter where we encouraged them and also gave them the book written by DSA, titled “Who Am I”. It’s a book that I highly recommend for everyone to read and your life will never be the same. It was a joy and awesome experience fellowshipping with the youth.

The following week, the city of Stockbridge was looking for volunteers for the youth advisory board. I applied for that position and forgot about it.

Saturday on 6-10-17, I woke up not feeling well. My chest was gripping and I couldn’t breathe well, I had a lot of aches and pain. Two of my DSA sisters had messaged me that they were thinking about me and I told them that I was not feeling well and they should pray for me and also God should send helpers. At night, I was rushed to the emergency and did not leave till Sunday morning. I was exhausted and got to thinking that, ‘Lord I have just started what you have placed in my hands, what is going on?’ On Monday I went to Dekalb Medical for another X-ray, blood work and culture and also antibiotics infusion of Rocephin and Vancomycin, also oral pills of levaquin for 1 week. When one is at the point of breakthrough of what God wants you to do that’s when all hell do break loose and attacks start coming and if you don’t know who you are in the Lord, you will fall a victim.

On Tuesday 6-13-17, around 8pm I checked my mail and, lo and behold, a letter from the city of Stockbridge congratulating me that I have been accepted to be on the youth Advisory board of Stockbridge.

Do you know what that means? It means that everything I learned from DSA, this is where the application starts.

I want to say thank you DSA and God bless you greatly. You taught me that even in our pain; there is a lesson to learn and there is something one can do. In pain and sickness I found my purpose, in pain and sickness I understand how to appreciate people, celebrate them and love people. They may look different than I but we are created in the image and likeness of God Almighty. I have met great people on the DSA platform that nothing can replace. I am aching, in pain and sick but I am happy that I am doing what God has called me to do and it is up to God to do HIS part.

Thank you DSA and thank you Pastor Bose. Pastor Bose is an angel who really knows what it means to be a pastor and a pastor’s wife by releasing her husband to help others and not holding him back. I love her book The Warrior Princess. Everyone needs to get a copy.

God bless you both.

Love always
Ola Martin
