FINALLY, THE GIRLS ARE BACK!! 241 Women & Children Abducted by Boko Haram are Free!

Military forces have rescued 241 women and children kept captive by Boko Haram.

Nigeria’s military said on Wednesday they had freed the prisoners following a raid on two camps controlled by the radical Islamist terrorist group, CNN reports.

The raids took place on Tuesday and destroyed both camps, army spokesman Col. Sani Usman told Nigerian newspaper Punch.

CNN reports the raids also resulted in the arrests of 43 Boko Haram militants including local leader Bulama Modu.

The rescue mission is wonderful news, particularly following more than a year of searching and hoping for the safe return of the abducted school girls from the village of Chibok — a horrifying incident that sparked the #bringbackourgirls hashtag and protests across the world.

It’s not yet clear, however, whether any of the Chibok school girls abducted in April 2014 are among the newly rescued women and children.

This is not the first time a group of Boko Haram hostages has been released: In May this year, 293 women and girls were rescued after the military captured three insurgent camps inside the Sambisa Forest in the country’s northeast.

Days later, a further 234 women and girls were rescued from the group — although in an unsettling twist of events, it transpired that at least 91 percent of that second group of rescued women and girls were pregnant.

As a United Nations report revealed, all but 20 of the 234 women and girls had visible baby bumps.

Those women’s pregnancy follows reports that women and girls kidnapped by the insurgents are routinely raped and forced to marry Boko Haram fighters, according to International Business Times.

The group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, has said  in a video released in November: “The issue of the girls is long forgotten because I have long ago married them off.”

In another chilling video released in May 2014, Shekau boastingly announced that he planned to treat the captured girls like “slaves”. He said:

“I will sell them in the market, by Allah. I will sell them off and marry them off. There is a market for selling humans… I will marry off a woman at the age of 12. I will marry off a girl at the age of nine…

Women are slaves. I want to reassure my Muslim brothers that Allah says slaves are permitted in Islam.”

There is no word yet on how many, if any, of the newly rescued women and children are pregnant.

Boko Haram in March pledged allegiance to Islamic State, which which rules a self-declared “caliphate” in areas of Syria and Iraq.

Boko Haram, whose name translates to “Western education is forbidden,” wants to establish a caliphate of its own in Nigeria.

I can't wait to share their testimonies during their ordeals.
Michael, why 'o why are you so interested in hearing the details of these girls torment? They are literally psychically scarred for life. No amount of therapy and/or medication can ever restore any of them to a grain of sand normalcy. Leave them be. I wonder at your psychological state of mind.
Thank you for posting Larry. The headline of of the article reads a bit joyful but reading through the article says otherwise. Is the WHO or UN doing anything to help thses very young women? Will they be able to assimilate back into their communities and families.
Mr. Cohen, I agree. It's bad enough that these children must relive their ordeals in court, Mr. Akinmola. Why add to their torment ? We know that, according to this twisted mindset, once a woman or girl has been raped, SHE, the VICTIM, is blamed and ridiculed - made to be a pariah. And please people: The words Islamist, Muslim, and extremist cancel each other out ! These animals ARE NOT following the tenets of Islam, Latty and Jersey Dave ! No one blames all of Christendom for the acts of, let's say, the KKK or the Timothy McVeighs or ANY organization that commits horrors against people in the name of Christianity ! THAT would, of course, be asinine ! It would be stupid ! That would reflect the ignorance and shortsightedness of such as would blame an entire group for the inane and heartless acts of the minority claiming Christianity as their reason and their shield. Blecchhh ! Your true colors are showing ! You're filled with hatred ANYWAY toward anyone who believes in a way that's different from your own ! You're ALREADY afraid of that of which you have no knowledge or understanding, so it's easier to latch onto the first one who spouts the same hatred that you feel. That much more easy than to actually KNOW what you're talkin' 'bout. A small minded person, of this ilk, doesn't WANT understanding. S/he doesn't WANT peace. S/he WANTS to remain in his/her own little world. Their puny little brains aren't capable of grasping such realities as synchronicity and symbiotic relationships. "As long as I says it loud enough and as stoopid as I cans, and long as I put down "their God" enough, I can keep s,,t going !" IDIOTS ! There is only ONE GOD ! Your perception of The Creator may be different than mine. That certainly doesn't mean there's more than ONE GOD ! If you haven't the capacity to perceive light, you'll always see darkness. That doesn't change the FACT that the sun may be shining ! It just means that YOU CANNOT PERCEIVE light ! Your PERCEPTION in no way changes REALITY, no matter how much you shout it !
If so, then why isn't the entire Muslim world screaming their heads off against these murderers and trying to stop them? If there were any percentage of Jews in the world doing the same sadistic barbarous acts, every single Jew would be totally freaking out, and doing whatever it took to destroy those who were making filth of Judaism. Where is the Muslim outcry? I must be going blind and deaf, because I do NOT see or hear Muslim religious leaders or Muslim political leaders screaming and frothing at the mouth about the atrocities their Muslim brothers are committing.
Dear Toval, you have only to look on the internet to see that in fact there has been a great outcry, not just from Muslim leaders, but from Muslims around the world. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF-8#q=muslim%20leader%20speaks%20out%20against%20terrorism&es_th=1 You are not deaf and blind, but kindly open your eyes.
Mabye it's fake.... you ask a good question why is there no Muslim speaking out? Where is the protest? Its just strange.
Michael Akinmola sounds very dodgy. The families and, hopefully some help from outside, should be allowed to try to resolve the after effects of their, probably, horrifying experiences. I wish them all the very best outcome for the future without the disgusting intrusion of the voyeurs and the gloating press intrusion.
Allah Is The Greatest, AMEEN :)
NOPE, JESUS is an duntil y'all realize that without him your luves is a mess and you're scarring innocent women n girls your lives will not be any better. There's one name by whch men and women can be saved and that's the name of JESUS. I hope y'all will turn to him soon, or you'll be doomed in hell
This is not about whose God is the greatest. It is the issue at hand that women and children can still be grabbed away from their families in the 20th century. It is about justice to women and children. And to each of their deities, they are saved. Jesus did NOT denigrate any religion, except his own. We, of all religions and nations, applaud the coming home of the Nigerian women. So strong as survivors. Our prayers are with you ladies.
FYI...Allah is God. Jesus is God. The issue is not of God but how we choose to worship him regardless of His name. That said, we should be grateful for their return regardless of faith. Amen
Just give me scientific proof of existence of any God whatsoever. Until then hush hush.
No, if you think that raping kids will make your so-called "god" great, your "god" isn't anything good. You've become a rape and murder cult instead of a "religion," like the Jim Jones cult or Aum Shinryko in Japan, and need to be removed from society.
(21st century)
Don't judge Islam by the people. Judge the people by Islam !
horrible hateful cult of Islam if it believes raping children and girls (and boys) they capture makes points with Allah. Real men don't rape, and if they worship a God who condones this they will have a big suprise in the after life and it ISN'T 80 horny virgins waiting for them. Thankful God who hears our prayers, that these children are free of these sick people - and now we must pray for healing for them - and for the innocent babies those monsters have made in these young girls. Lord have mercy.
Thank Gud for them
Thank God for them
His great
you deserve commendation ,well done
God is great. Kudos to our President
That guy, Shekau, has it all twisted. He's showing the whole world what a non-practicing Muslim he really is and he's trying to use the Qur'an to justify his evil actions toward women. He, obviously, has either never read the Qur'an or hasn;t read it since he was a child, because he doesn't have a clue what's in there. They need to lock him up and throw away the key, because he's crazy and you never know what a crazy person might do next.
It this True?
is this what Islam is all about. what is the Islamic Society saying and doing about this.. if they are quiet then they are supporting all of this.
Agreed. Some leaders of Muslim community need to come forth and denounce it otherwise it would seem as though they're accepting of what he says. Especially since this was a widely known event in the media. Yes, I know not the responsibility of others if a few radicals have perverted views of their religion. However since the few seem to be causing continuous harm to the world, they may want to think about it ;-)
I thought most of the abducted girls were Christians from a christian girls borading school? But in the pictures all the girls are in Hijab like Muslim girls, Were they all then forced to convert to islam? Otherwise why in Hijab now that they are free. What happens to all the children born of rape ? Are the girls going to keep the babies ? Or put them up for adoption? There are many questions to the puzzle.
These things are less about religion and more about power and politics. Religion is just a veil
Thank God the girls are returned. Now to find the rest and get their abductors arrested.
I really wonder why all this happens....it's a time for us to pray God is the only one who is able
It's good that they are back now those babies in their wombs
What will happen to the pregnant girls? Will you allow their conception and delivery Boko Haram?
I knew God was in control!! Our redeemer liveth..
Nigeria lies a lot, let us hear their testimonies first
Hello from California, I am so glad that these girls and young women are freed. May they find healing in the love of their family and friends.
Thank you for the informative article. I have one criticism that I hope you will consider. Using the term "baby bump" seems unprofessional and almost disrespectful to the young ladies. To me this term is bad enough in articles about celebrities but to use this term when referring to young women who have been raped is callous, flippant and tasteless.
I agree - "baby bump" has been used in an endearing, "cool" context in today's world - really very inappropriate in this horrific ordeal. Please correct your disrespectful working.
Anouska, Right on, these children are not celebrities, they are crime victims. Once again, children having children. Anyone who doesn't understand that shouldn't be commenting on this story.
Despicable. If there ever was an "Allah" or a "God," he/she/it would not have let those young girls and women get raped and treated like anything less than human. Such human waste, those people are.
To all good and pure in and out of the world there's always going to be evil on the other side. Even in life, there's amazing wonderful people who you never want to leave you- and people who you don't think should live. These kids were simply trying to get an education. ...how sick and sad to imagine a fraction of what happened to them.
Hi, this is great news but there is no information anywhere else to corroborated it. There haven't been any other reports to suggest that any more girls have been returned and the #bringbackourgirls campaign team seem to know nothing of it. Can you please confirm that your sources are correct as the link referenced at the bottom doesn't appear to have a story about it either. Thank you.
these poor children. I hope they will be okay
I clicked on the link that was cited and it says that the fate of those girls is still a mystery. :( The people rescued from these caps were not the school girls kidnapped a year ago.
This is wonderful from the Nigerian military.
I do wish the government would raze the entire Sambisa forest to the ground and let's be done with these jihadists once and for all cuz the truth is no matter the therapy used on these girls, they will never be the same. I can bet a lot of them there are praying for death. So sad, may God have mercy on humanity.
Ours is ardent prayer for peace and progress in our country. We would continue to give our best, in all aspect of human development. We seek goodwill, understanding and cooperation from our fellow human beings all over the world. So help us oh God!
may the lord give courage to nigeria soldiers to be able to overcome this menancing boko haram insurgents
Nigeria showed much common sense by employing the South African security force STTEP. Led by one Colonel Eben Barlow. They and the Nigerian army have smashed Boko Horam and continue to do so. I hope peace now comes to these women.
Praise God ,I know what prayer can do
What very sad faces these poor girls have. So pleased they are free. I hope they get help & support. God bless them
