HOW TO MAKE ANY COUNTRY A FIRST WORLD COUNTRY THROUGH THE POWER OF FAITH.

Today, I would like to address the question; how to make Nigeria(any country) a first world country through the power of faith. The word faith is very familiar to most people in the world, but unfortunately in over 30 years of my interacting with believers, I have come to realize that not too many people know how to harness the power of faith.

As we have seen in the title of this article, faith is a power. Before we begin to go in-depth on how faith could be used to bring about economic, political and social development in Nigeria and every other nation, I wish to first of all examine the meaning of the word power.

Power is the ability to make things happen or produce result. Power could also be the ability to produce an effect. Power is the ability, the capacity to act or do something effectively.

According to the above mentioned definition of power, talking in terms of national transformation, economic regeneration and social economic recovery; let’s examine the practical reasons for which God entrusted all of us with the power of faith. Let’s see what every believer should be doing with the faith they profess to possess.

1. The power of faith makes things happen! That is anything we believe God for, through the power of faith we should be able to make it come to pass.

2. The power of faith gives us the ability to produce results. That is, we have the ability to produce results economically. We have the capacity through faith to produce results for the transformation of nations. Through the power of faith, we have the ability to produce political results. By the power of faith, we can produce scientific results etc.

3. The power of faith gives us the ability to produce an effect. The power of faith allows us to bring about the desired effect/movement, for which we can believe God for.

4. The power of faith gives us the ability to do things effectively. Which means by the power of faith we become effective people. The power of faith makes us do things not just anyhow, but effectively.

5. Through the power of faith all things become possible to the believer. No wonder the bible tells us that to anyone that can believe, talking of real faith and not assumption faith, to them all things shall be possible. (Mark 9:23)

It is no secret that Nigeria is the home for some of the largest Christian gatherings in the world. Our fathers in the Lord have done a great job, using the power of faith to set up these ministries and followership. Through faith they subdued the forces of evil that ruled over our continent for centuries. By the power of faith, these God Generals changed the whole spiritual landscape of Nigeria and Africa in general.

The Fathers of Faith in Nigeria, brought about this huge change to the continent yet they were not many in number. These tremendous spiritual transformation was actually brought about by just a few hundreds of people.

Today however, Nigeria has millions of professed Christians, yet I don’t seem to see the same effect of their faith upon the social, economic and political landscape of Nigeria and Africa at large.

It seems to me as if the power of faith has suddenly been lost in our society. It seems to me that at best, if there is any power in faith whatsoever, then it has been confined only to the church and prayer grounds. This does not agree with the definition of faith as a universal power as seen above.

Could it be that faith is not a power? Could it be that faith is only a dogma? Could it be that faith is only a cliche? Could it be that faith is only a religion? Could it be that faith is only a facade?

If faith is a power, is that the power we see demonstrated on crusade grounds? If faith is power, are we talking about the power we see in the pulpit when the man of God is sweating profusely? Is faith what we see when people come forward to give their testimonies of victories, miracles and breakthroughs?

Is this faith only for dancing and jumping in church? Is this faith only for emotional gratification? Is this faith only for personal fulfillment and extravagance? If that really is the power of faith, why is it limited to the four walls of the church or to the crusade grounds?

Could it be that the power of faith is incapable, ineffective at our work place? Could it be that the power of faith becomes paralytic in dealing with social issues of the land? Is it true that faith can’t work in politics? Is it true that faith is powerless when it comes to the matters of the economy? Is the power of faith helpless in the issues of corruption?

If really faith is power, why is it not being applied to fix our social economic ills? If really faith is power, why is it not being used to direct aright the path of our youths? If faith truly is power, what makes it helpless in dealing with issues of moral decadence in our society? If faith is power, where is that power in resolving all the national issues that we are facing as a nation?

“Faith is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace, so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times.” – Martin Luther

When a nation loses or abandons her faith, and refuses to address the questions of social, economic and political decadence, the subsequent consequences would be that of national dissipation, moral decay, social perversions, corruption, immorality and societal disintegration. That is exactly what we have been witnessing in Nigeria for the past few decades.

It doesn’t really matter how many Christians, Muslims or people of faith there are in a given society. What matters is the ability of the people to put to work the power of their faith for desired effects in the country. That is, we could have a country full of believers, yet if these believers will not apply the principles of faith and the power of faith into every segment of that society, it willl be as if they are in a country where there is no faith whatsoever.

Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” Heb. 10:38

On the other hand, if a nation is only having 1% or 2% of believers who are actively involved in putting to work the principles and power of faith in their social, economic and political life, that nation will be much more superior to the other nations with all the believers, and yet with  inactive faith.

I want to illustrate how God sees similar situations from the scriptures. Let’s look into Judges 7:3

“Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.” “And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.”

Notice that even God cannot help a people or a nation, where they have refused to put their faith into operation in managing their national affairs. Remember that the Israelites of old were all believers. But to believe God in your heart is not the same thing as putting into operation the power of active faith on daily basis for national growth and development.

In the above story, God himself was so much interested in bringing about deliverance to His people, but He could not help them until He got rid of those who would not put their faith into operation. Of the 32,000 strong army that were going against the enemy, 22,000 of them had to return home while they were left with only 10,000 men.

“Faith allows things to happen.  It is the power that comes from a fearless heart.  And when a fearless heart believes, miracles happen.

Dear friends, please take note that the only criteria for which God decided to purge the army was that of lack of faith. “Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.” Fear, timidity, trembling are the most evident signs of lack of faith. Fear, doubt, timidity, trembling, deprive faith of its power.

On the contrary, another compelling story from the Bible shows us the possibilities of the power of faith in building a nation.

“And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid, so the men of Israel said, “Have you seen this man who has come up? Surely he has come up to defy Israel; and it shall be that the man who kills him the king will enrich with great riches, will give him his daughter, and give his father’s house exemption from taxes in Israel.”

“Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” 1sam. 17: 24-26

Please note that in verse 24, even God, as powerful as He is, could not deliver Israel as interested as He could have been. The only difference in this story however, is that a man of faith came to the fore.

That man was David! David was no doubt a man of faith per excellence. When he saw the confusion ravaging his beloved nation, even though he was not qualified to be at the war front, he had what the service men did not possess. David possessed the spirit of faith. He believed in the power of faith to change any situation. He could not keep quiet when the need demanded for him to speak. He could not hold back when the nation desperately needed the voice of a deliverer.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Heb.11:6

Ladies and gentlemen, faith cannot be silent in the face of devastation. Faith will not be inactive when actions are demanded for. Faith is power. Faith acts, it produces results, it creates effect, and it acts effectively. Hence the question of David “what will be done for the man who kills this Philistine, and takes away reproach from Israel?”

“I would rather err on the side of faith than on the side of doubt.” – Robert Schuller

In verse 29 of that passage, David added yet another revolutionary remark “IS THERE NOT A CAUSE?”

How does a man of faith behave? What is the right response of a man that believes in the power of faith, at the devastation of his nation? Let’s learn a few lessons from the life of a man of faith per excellence, David the King of Israel.

1. A man of faith does not keep quiet when there is a demand for him to speak. It is this principle that will not allow me to buy into the stereotype that pastors should never speak to the political situations of their nations. This is especially incomprehensible when a nation is at a cross road as Nigeria was before the 2015 general elections.

2. A man of faith believes that the power of faith is capable of changing any situation;  either political, social, ethnic, economic, etc. I cannot buy into the teaching that says once you are a Pastor, you no longer have the right to speak about your beliefs and convictions regarding the situations in your country. I actually think this is a grand plan by Satan to eliminate men of virtue from playing a major role in the destiny of their nations.

3. A true man of faith will not hold back his wisdom and insight when his country desperately needs the voice of a deliverer.

4. A true man of faith will not allow the rules of men and the protocols of bureaucracy to deprive him the use of the divine power that has been entrusted into his hands. David did not allow the army to shut him up through their numerous protocols and bureaucracy, he stood for what he knew to be right. That is how men of faith become deliverers of their nations.

5. When there is devastation in the land, be it economic, political or social, men of faith are supposed to stand up. Remember power is the ability to produce effect. The people who truly possess the power of faith are never indifferent in the face of devastation. This reminds me so strongly about the epic role Archbishop Benson Idahosa played in the national affairs of our country before his transition to glory. Our nation needs more men like him.

6. Men who know and possess the genuine power of faith never remain inactive when actions are demanded for in their nations.

7. If faith is truly a power, if faith truly produces results, if faith is indeed effective, if faith really works, it would be absolutely impossible for someone to possess it and not get involved in everything where he could make a difference. Men of faith cannot be quiet or indifferent when the power in them can bring about a total change in the status quo.

I hope that this message helps not only my nation Nigeria, but also the Christian Church worldwide to begin to put into use, the power of faith that indwells in her.

I remember many Christians in Nigeria complained profusely about the All Peoples Congress (APC), calling it a Muslim party. My response was, why won’t it be a Muslim party when the messages we preach in our churches is that politics is a dirty game that Christians should not be involved in?

This is one of the most evil deceptions of Satan that has successfully penetrated into the Christian church. How could you say that light should be kept away from darkness? This is absolutely against the teaching of our lord Jesus Christ that says,  a candle is lit to give light to the room and not to be hidden under a bushel.

“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:17

May the words of David always be our attitude as Christians today.  “IS THERE NOT A CAUSE?”

  • Friends, is there not a cause, in your country, for the power of God to be released?
  • Is there not a cause to end poverty in your nation?
  • Is there not a cause for the maternal child mortality to be stopped?
  • Is there not a cause for corruption to be dealt with?
  • Is there not a cause to make our people stop living on 1 USD a day?
  • Is there not a cause to get beggars off our streets?
  • Is there not a cause to stop our ladies from being sold into prostitution both at home and in foreign nations?
  • Is there not a cause to stop the disgrace our young people bring upon the nation by becoming drug pushers?
  • Is there not a cause to make our society 100% literate?
  • Is there not a cause to construct better roads for our people to travel by?
  • Is there not a cause for more universities to be built, so that our children don’t go wasting away in foreign lands?
  • Is there not a cause to have steady water supply in every home and village?
  • Is there not a cause to supply our nation with constant electricity?
  • Is there not a cause to provide our people with better medical facilities?
  • Is there not a cause to provide cheap and affordable accommodation for our people?
  • Is there not a cause for us to produce our own airplanes, cars and trains?
  • Is there not a cause for our nation to become the leading nation in the world?
  • Is there not a cause for our currency to be at par with the strongest currencies of the world?
  • Is there not a cause for us to be proud of being Nigerians?

It is for this cause that I as a Pastor dedicated myself to raising up worthy sons for God in all spheres of life: politics, finance, business, economy, media, education, sports, entertainment, art, etc. These people must by the power of faith, bring back the glory of God. Reclaim the earth back to the master, for His kingdom to come, for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

It is my belief that the primary calling of the local church is to raise up men and women, who will go and establish the kingdom of God in all spheres of the earth. The church is the foundation and the pillar of the truth. For this purpose, we were entrusted with the power of faith. That this earth should become the kingdom of our God and His Christ.

Dear friends, remember how we started this article. Jug.7:3

“Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.” “And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.”

From this scripture, we see that God does not tolerate lack of faith in His army, because any form of lack of action means lack of faith. Such in-activities only lead to deprivation, devastation and national decay. WHEN MEN THAT ARE ENTRUSTED WITH POWER, AS IN THIS CASE THE POWER OF FAITH, REFUSE TO JUSTIFY THEIR CALLING, GOD SENDS THEM HOME!

If the Nigerian church will continue to abdicate her God given responsibility for the society and the nation at large, I am afraid that the church as we see it today will become history. God always has His remnants, that will come forth in due season to lead God’s army to victory.

I therefore want to use this forum to appeal to everyone that can still hear the cry of the spirit, to come out of the wilderness and step forth in faith even as David did to deliver our land from national dissipation, moral decay, social pervasion, corruption, immorality, economic collapse and societal disharmony. IS THERE NOT A CAUSE?

God gave us all as believers the power of faith. Not just for domestic use like stopping my own headache or getting money to buy myself a loaf of bread and butter. But even more than that, the power of faith is given to us as a trust that we might use it to address the pressing issues of our land.

Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know what you have chosen to use the power of your faith for. You may choose to use your faith to buy a new house. You may choose to use your faith to buy a new car. You may choose to use your faith to buy a new suit. You may choose to use your faith to buy a laptop. You may choose to use your faith to buy a tablet. You may choose to use your faith to travel. You may choose to use your faith to get a new or better job etc. But I have decided to use my faith to change and subdue nations for God.

As for me and my household, we have decided, THERE IS A CAUSE!!!
