THE POWER OF VALUE SYSTEM.
I am a strong believer in the fact that whatever is happening in any country, the number one cause of it is the damaged value system of that nation. I think we have a faulty and perverse value system in Nigeria. That is the root cause of all our problems not just political leadership. The political leadership comes from our society. Our leaders are not been imported from Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau or from some exotic places like Fiji. Nations that are totally different from us. They are not bringing their strange fire to our camp. No!!!
These political leaders are emerging from our culture. They emerge from our value system. They are a result of our societal virtues. That is what we produce. It is not a matter of one leader that is bad or two leaders or 10 leaders or even 100 leaders that are bad. We have been talking about bad leadership for all the 55 years of our independence. Meaning our society has not been capable of producing worthy leaders.
Despite the fact that our leaders come and go in their thousands, they all still repeat the same failures, because that is what they know. That is the value they have been brought up in. That is the value they have imbibed in their system. Most of the people who are condemning these leaders, will still do the same thing if they get to those places of authority. Since they come from the same value system they can only produce those kind of results.
