YOUR PAST DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR FUTURE.
In today’s part of our week long article, our quest to discover what it takes to birth our dreams and your visions continue. Below are examples of people who did it and how they got there.
9. SOCRATES AND THE FIGHT AGAINST PUBLIC OPINION.
Socrates was so much rejected in his generation that he was tagged an immoral corrupter of youth. The society he lived in, hated him so much that he was sentenced to death. Even though Socrates didn’t give up and tried to continue his work, but the opposition was so great against him and what he stood for that he was forced into poisoning himself.
Many years later, Socrates was recognized worldwide as one of the greatest philosophers of all time. His works were so effective that even though he did not live any written record behind, his works and ideas are widely quoted today.
“Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself. Go forward and make your dreams come true.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ladies and gentlemen, there is no way you can give birth to your dreams and visions without suffering opposition, especially from the public opinion. Like Socrates, you’ve got to force your way through the tide of public opinion, opposition, to live your name in the record of time.
10. WRIGHT BROTHERS – PROTOTYPES OF FAILURES
The wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, paid a huge price for their dreams of flying planes to come to pass. Each time you see or enter a plane, you’ve got the Wright Brothers to thank. It is thanks to their endurance and their ability to suffer pain that you and I can fly around the world today.
They had so much bad luck that they had a long battle with depression, family tragedies, etc. When they eventually started their bicycle shop, they failed so many times at trying to fly machines. They basically had tons of failed prototypes before they eventually created a plane.
Ladies and gentlemen, how many prototypes of failures are you willing to endure? Can you keep on going until you get a result? That is perseverance par excellence. If you really believe in your vision and dreams, it doesn’t matter how many times you fail, you only need to get it right one time. Stop focusing on your failures, start focusing on how you will get it right at least one time.
“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them” ― Walt Disney
11. WINSTON CHURCHILL – YOUR PAST DOES NOT DECIDE YOUR FUTURE.
Winston Churchill. Started out as a failure in life. Even in primary school, he failed in the sixth grade. When he became a politician, he failed and was defeated in every single election he participated in for public office. Until finally he became the Prime Minister at the age of 62. Thank God he kept on trying.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.― Winston S. Churchill
Friends, what is your own history of failure like? Don’t let your past failures hold you back. Don’t allow your past to determine your future. Churchill surely did not allow his past to decide his future. Even though you might have failed in the past, you can still hugely succeed in the future.
To be continued tomorrow with the topic:
