A CHAMPION IN THE SCHOOL OF FAILURES BECOMES PRESIDENT.

Giving birth to your dreams and visions might look like an impossible task especially when you have failed a few times. Today, we will be looking into the life of a man who was a monumental failure in many regards, but it didn’t deter him from birthing his dreams and visions.

12. ABRAHAM LINCOLN – CHAMPION IN THE SCHOOL OF FAILURES.

Abraham Lincoln has a history of failure. He has become a parable to motivational speakers in the school of failure. His history of failure is indeed remarkable.

  • 1831 – Lost his job
  • 1832 – Defeated in run for Illinois State Legislature
  • 1833 – Failed in business
  • 1834 – Elected to Illinois State Legislature
  • 1835 – Sweetheart died
  • 1836 – Had nervous breakdown
  • 1838 – Defeated in run for Illinois House Speaker
  • 1843 – Defeated in run for nomination for U.S. Congress
  • 1846 – Elected to Congress
  • 1848 – Lost re-nomination
  • 1849 – Rejected for land officer position
  • 1854 – Defeated in run for U.S. Senate
  • 1856 – Defeated in run for nomination for Vice President
  • 1858 – Again defeated in run for U.S. Senate
  • 1860 – Elected President

“Endurance is not just the ability to learn hard things, but turn them into glory” ― William Bradly

I don’t think there is anyone of us that can compete with Mr. Lincoln in the school of failure. In the case of Mr. Lincoln, indeed his own was a special case, apart from all that is enlisted above, as a young man Lincoln went to the war in the position of a captain. Things were so bad for him, so woefully did he fail, that by the time he came back from the war, he returned home as a private. Yet he didn’t give up. Today, he is regarded as one of the greatest Presidents of the United States of America.

“Hardship always prepare ordinary people for extraordinary destiny” ― C.S. Lewis

GIVE BIRTH TO YOUR DREAM AGAINST ALL ODDS

Friends, even if you too have been having a series of failures going from bad to worse as in the case of Lincoln, you should be comforted by the thought that Lincoln went ahead to become the greatest President in the history of America. The same thing is waiting for you, if you keep on pursuing your dream.

Ladies and gentlemen, what I am trying to say in this week’s article is that it is not possible to give birth to your dream and vision without paying the price of pain and suffering. Even Jesus Christ the Son of God as much as He is loved by God himself, still could not escape pain in the course of fulfilling his vision.  If Jesus the most powerful being that ever lived on the earth had to go through pain, labor and suffering for him to accomplish his purpose, then no one can be an exception. We must all pay the same price.

To be continued tomorrow with the tomorrow with the topic:

  • Illusionary preaching/teachings that hinder us from birthing our dreams and visions.
