Legendary Roger Federer is a favourite of many. Roger Federer who has done some extraordinary stuffs on the turf has done the same off the field as well. Roger Federer spent a colossal sum of 13.5 millions to inaugurate 81 schools in Africa. The phrase ‘Millions of money spoils the person in millions of ways’ seems to have failed to live up to its essence all the time.

Federer, is a Swiss professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 1 in men’s singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Federer has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles—the most in history for a male player—and has held the world No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings for a record total of 308 weeks, including 237 consecutive weeks. After turning professional in 1998, he was continuously ranked in the top ten from October 2002 to November 2016. He re-entered the top ten following his victory at the 2017 Australian Open. Federer has won a record eight Wimbledon titles among many other making him the greatest player to ever play the prestigious sport.

He set up his 10-year plan in 2011 to improve children’s education and has already established 81 pre-schools in Africa.

With the large sum of money already invested in counties like Malawi and South Africa, the foundation hopes to improve the lives of over 150,000 children by 2021 the Business Standard reports.

‘I believe every young child should have the opportunity to spend some years in such a center because early education is the foundation of learning,’ Federer said upon visiting the school.

With 15 programs running in Switzerland, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe already, The Roger Federer foundation has set the goal of changing the lives of one million children by 2018.
