IS GOD CHANGING THE GUARD?

The best description for my state of mind in the last two decades of my Christian life is best expressed by the words of the legendary artist Leonardo Da Vinci –

“I AWOKE, ONLY TO SEE THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD IS STILL ASLEEP.”

I am so sensitive about using this quotation, because I am sure some people might misunderstand it as pride. Please in the name of God let’s forget about such side thoughts and focus on the message.

When I consider the teachings, doctrines and what happens generally in the body of Christ both here in Europe, America and in Africa, I sometimes feel that I am living in my own reality. Either the whole world is getting it wrong or I am just running crazy.

At first I decided to keep quiet. after all, who am I? This small boy from Idomila village (Ogun State). A place that is not even on the map of my state, not to mention my country. No way! I tell myself: “keep quiet. You can’t know more than those who are ahead of you, you can’t know more than your elders”. Forgetting that the young shall grow. It is a law of life.

Eventually, I decided that in spite of my silence I would demonstrate and reproduce in reality the picture of the church that I saw inside my spirit. Hence over 20 years ago I stepped out by faith from leading a small group of African students in the university. I did this against the contemporary mindset of the day. The mindset of thinking that a black man in Europe can only lead a black church.

In the process a revolution was started. Today, what was impossible is made possible and the rest is history. Presently, our church in Kiev attracts 25,000 people of whom 99% is white Caucasians. The Embassy of God is not merely a cross-cultural church. Many other things that are commonplace here in the Embassy of God, are found to be unique compared to other places in the world.

This accomplishment made me realize that, perhaps I am in the same shoes as Leonardo Da Vinci.? I awoke, and found that my brethren in the body of Christ are still fast asleep in the slumber of religion.

Another vindication I had is the fact that I believed the Christian message and the gospel of the kingdom is good enough to fix the world’s problems. For this reason, I decided to test my convictions by traveling to the United States of America, proclaiming this message.

Within two years of my going to America, by the grace of God, I was able to take this message of the kingdom to the United Nations on two occasions. That same message gave me access to the United States Senate. I spoke at the Bill Clinton foundation, the Japanese’s Parliament and even the Israeli Knesset.

Brethren, you won’t believe what I discovered. I found out that in every place, people listened to this message with full attention and total bewilderment. The question that I kept on hearing was: “why are other Christian ministers not doing the same thing?” That made me think: could it be that God is trying to tell us that there is a shift taking place in the body of Christ, especially in the way we do church?

I had always been appalled by the variation of the gospel of prosperity I hear preached in our charismatic churches, which basically borders on sowing and reaping, giving and receiving. I thought there must be a different format to that message.

After I finished reading Donald Trump’s book in 2005, I discovered the secret of real prosperity in the church; which is to teach God’s people principles of economic empowerment. I made up my mind that not only would I become a millionaire, but that I would also raise up millionaires from members of my church. Over a period of 3 years we were able to raise 200 millionaires (USD) from our local church.

There are many other areas of my life and ministry where the words of Leonardo Da Vinci have proven true. For example, I wondered why nobody that I knew, had written a thousand books. This goal to me seems so easy. Presently, by the grace of God, I have written over 200 books in Russian language.

All these things, I discovered, are what people in the contemporary Christian church would normally think are impossible.

Despite the above-mentioned achievements amongst others, I still was not ready to challenge the status quo in the body of Christ. At that stage, I also had my own share of trials, troubles and persecutions in Ukraine under the former Soviet Union.

I continued in this state of indecisiveness and purported silence until I came across some great words from Martin Luther King Jr. that says:

“OUR LIVES BEGIN TO END THE DAY WE BECOME SILENT ABOUT THINGS THAT MATTER.”

These words motivated me and partially explains why I decided to delve into the affairs of my beloved country. In my opinion, Nigeria matters! The body of Christ matters!!

As in the words of Leonardo Da Vinci, I felt in my spirit that “I awoke, only to see that the rest of the world was still asleep.”

These feelings intensified in regards to my nation Nigeria, especially the days and months leading up to the general elections. I tried to call my friends and let them see the dawn that is about to descend on our nation, but all my pleas and cries seemed to fall on deaf ears. Most people I know had their arguments and reasons why they had to pitch their tent with the incumbent President. I was left with no option but to take to my Facebook page to declare what I know to be true.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” Martin Luther king Jr.

Now that the elections are over, I am hearing a more resounding voice in the spirit saying, God is changing the guard in the Nigerian Church. God is changing the guard indeed in the body of Christ worldwide. This I cannot be quiet about.

“Of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command.” 1 Chronicles 12:32

There have been many messages in the body of Christ about the sons of Issachar who understand the times and know what Israel ought to do. It presents an excellent message topic for preachers.

But alas, I am afraid we could be busy preaching it so much that we miss our times and season. The events surrounding the Nigerian elections are a clear enough indication and clarion call to the 7000 remnants who are yet to bow their knees to Baal, to arise and come out of the wilderness to take charge of the guard that would lead their Nations and church to the promise land.

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.” Dan 2:20-22

If I am not mistaking, I believe the overwhelming majority of the current leadership of the Nigerian church, missed the direction in which God was moving during the just concluded Nigerian elections.

Brethren, that cannot be by accident. Believe me, these men are not foolish. It would take something supernatural for them to miss it massively like that. God allowed it!!!

Whenever God allows a mass blindness to cover His church, it is not out of stupidity, it is out of divine providence. It is a message to those who can still hear in the spirit that it is time for the remnants to come out of the wilderness and take vanguard of the new things God wants to do in the land.

Allow me to say here again as I said in one of my previous articles, and I quote: “I am by no means castigating the heroic men and women of God who have served God faithfully and have brought the church to where it is today. While we thank God for them and their efforts, we must also know that our generation of believers has the responsibility to take the gospel a bit further. To conquer some more territories and to expand the influence of the Kingdom to a higher horizon.

It reminds me of the story of Moses and Joshua. While Moses did a wonderful Job liberating the children of God from Egypt with signs and wonders, God had a stunning message for Joshua, when they got to the land of Promise. God said to Joshua, no more miracles, it is time to build.

“Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year” Joshua 5:12

The same analogy I see with the body of Christ today. Our fathers of faith have done a great job delivering our nations from the clutches of idolatry and witchcraft through signs and wonders. Today however, a new generation must arise that will take their works further. This generation must rely less on signs and wonders, but rely more on developing skills and building industries.

This generation must spend less time waiting for manna from heaven, but spend more time in the fields building and producing. Even though this generation still believes in the miracle working power of God, they must no longer wait for God to bring water from the rocks, but rather construct dams, develop water systems, subdue the power of the ocean and thereby give glory to God Almighty. As it was in the days of Moses and Joshua so it is in our day.

Therefore the messages coming from our altars must change. We must have a shift! A “CHURCHSHIFT” is around the corner!! It is time for us to move on to our promised land!!! It’s time to begin to believe that with God on our side we can build a prosperous Nation and Continent.

The gospel that has been preached in our churches has not been fair to the African continent. It has left us in a beggarly state, waiting on God for things we could produce by and for ourselves. Our churches are full of people during work hours, in the morning, at noon, in the evening praying, instead of being in the factories, libraries, and laboratories, facilitating economic growth. We need a shift in our message and in our pulpit.”

Brethren let’s face it. What we practice in Nigerian Churches and in most parts of the world today is more of religion than Christian faith. Karl Max said religion is the opium of the masses. When people lose their ability to reason because of religion, then we can no longer call it faith, that is religion. True faith in God on the contrary awakens in you the mind of Christ, to reason yourself to the will and purposes of God. Hence God says in Is.1:18 “come now and let us reason together says the lord…”

Whenever any church teaches you not to question or reason, that is religion and it is the opium that Karl Max was talking about. God didn’t tell us to suspend our minds he rather challenged us to come and reason, to use our reasoning faculties.

Reading through the messages of Jesus, we see Him constantly encouraging His listeners to use their ears. He said “he that has an ear let him hear”, “he that has eyes let him see”. That is talking about understanding.

God the Father and the Son don’t wish you to remain blind. It is men that put blindness upon other people for the purpose of control and manipulation. The disciples of Jesus constantly questioned him, asked questions nonstop during his time with them on earth. So whenever a church tells you not to ask questions, that is religion. It is the opium we are talking about!!!

Come to think of it, how is it that God the Father could be questioned, God the Son could be questioned, but a Pastor cannot be questioned? Brothers and sisters no genuine change can ever take place in a generation or epoch without first slaying the dragon of religion. Remember, I’m not referring to faith in God; I’m not referring to Christian faith or any other faith. I am talking about religion in all its ramifications.

In the words of Bertrand Russell “It is possible that mankind is on the threshold of a golden age; but, if so, it will be necessary first to slay the dragon that guards the door, and this dragon is religion”

Brothers and sisters, it is clear there is change in the air in Nigeria and in the Church. A new generation of leaders must emerge. But for this transformation to be successful, we the people must first liberate ourselves and our brethren from the clutches of religion.

“Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the children of Israel would journey; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents. At the command of the Lord the children of Israel would journey, and at the command of the Lord they would camp; as long as the cloud stayed above the tabernacle they remained encamped.” Numbers 9:17-18

Brethren can you see the cloud moving from the tent? Who will move with the cloud? Only the sons of Issachar know the times and seasons. Only people like that follow the cloud of glory as it departs from the camp. Only the remnants would, in obedience, follow the urge of the spirit of God into the next destination in our journey of faith as a Nation.

This article therefore is a clarion call to the Davids of the land to come back from the field and confront the Goliaths of their era. Selah!!!
