A 17-year-old Ringgold teen, Azariya McClendon graduated from high school and from college on the same day, CNN affiliate KSLA reports.
Azariya McClendon got her associates degree from Bossier Parish Community College at 2 p.m. Then, at 6:30 p.m., she graduated from Ringgold High School.
The superintendent for Bienville Parish school system says Azariya is the first to accomplish this goal, KSLA reports.
“Honestly, it’s still kind of hard to believe,” McClendon says. “It hasn’t really set in yet, but I’m excited.”
McClendon was in a dual-enrollment program and took classes from BPCC while she was in high school. She says she started taking college classes as a freshman, and finished her high school curriculum as a sophomore.
She plans on attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to major in biology. McClendon hopes go to medical school at Louisiana State University in Shreveport afterward to become a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology.
