A Christian street preacher, Oluwole Ilesanmi, 64, had his Bible taken away from him as the police handcuffed him for ‘hate speech’ against Islam, the Scotland Yard has awarded him £2,500 for wrongful arrest.

Oluwole Ilesanmi was preaching outside Southgate Tube station in London back in February when a passer-by called the police against the preacher for making ‘hateful comments’ about Islam, according to the witness.

The preacher was granted compensation by the Metropolitan Police as he had been wrongly accused of Islamophobia.

‘I believe God loves everyone, including Muslims, but I have the right to say I that I don’t agree with Islam – we are living in a Christian country, after all, Mr Ilesanmi told The Mail on Sunday.

The preacher was granted compensation by the Metropolitan Police as he had been wrongly accused of Islamophobia.

‘I was upset when they took away my Bible. They just threw it in the police car. They would never have done that if it had been the Koran. Whatever happened to freedom of speech?’ he further added.
