My Shocking Experience Of Meeting Pastor Sunday Adelaja – Apute Ben Ochuko

How it began;

And so it’s about a year plus I met a rare gem, a futurist, nation builder, nation reformer, transformational leader, a life coach, an exceptional mentor, a leader per excellence, a lover of God, My personal boss etc. I had the opportunity of attending his Church 22nd anniversary and a glorious wedding of someone I didn’t really know at that time ( Dr-Bien Sufficient Jacob) but now certainly more than just a friend.

Against the background of nauseating Christian dogma, improper scriptural interpretations, individual experiences turned into doctrine and biblical ordinance. I was for sure getting fed up with the church system and how the present day Christianity was been practiced. I had begun wondering if Christ brought denominations or Salvation. The walls of the church had quickly felt like a prison limiting and killing the potentials of many – “escape mentality” and mine was fast becoming threatened.

Who is this man?

I met Dr. Sunday Adelaja – am talking about a man who God used to build the largest church in the whole of Europe with 99% white caucasians at the age of 33, a young dynamic, spirit-filled man of God who started a large network of churches spreading across Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Japan, Kenya, Switzerland, Russia, Sweden, Kazakhstan to mention few, not to talk more of his role in the “Orange revolution” amongst the least.

My Narrative 1–

So we quickly settled in for the service which was already on. Due to my ever scrutinizing nature (I really don’t fall for those churches with high level of packaging and no proper grooming in the word), I sat down and kept observing. Soon “the man of God” stepped in and the service was paused. The whole church stood up to salute the entrance of the man of God. The spirit of scrutiny was triggered and I began to wonder (based on old experience) “so he is also one of them”. Is he God that the service has to be paused by the moderator and everybody had to stand to welcome him? (“me I kuku ma sit down wella”- I sat down and never moved). So I asked “what happens if Christ steps in?’’. I began feeling uncomfortable and said I think it’s time we hit the road, am done here.

Before I could say another word, he stepped to the lectern, collected the microphone and said “I know you honor me as your pastor but let this be the last time you have to stop the service just to welcome me because I walked in, I am not Jesus or God”. Hehehehe…guess you know how I felt. I turned to one of my friend who invited me (Dr Anietie Clement) and we both smiled.

Humility? – Checked.

Dr Sunday Adelaja is a humble man of God. A respecter of everybody irrespective of your status.
 He is a lover of men.
 He is a profound teacher of the word.
 He is highly anointed.

My Narratives 2 –

Just before the end of the service, a pastor friend Dr Joshua Ojuade asked if I would want to meet with the pastor. In my mind, am like how on earth is that possible, to meet with the G.O, the very first day am attending his church, am sure he has got a long list waiting, am sure that wouldn’t happen in a year- “my guy forget that thing’’. Pessimistically I said not a bad idea. Service was done, he was in a meeting with some French nationals. So I said this won’t happen. Soon we were invited in (Dr Eguono Apute, Dr Joshua Ojuade, Dr Мдама Балами ) and boom the unthinkable happened. He has practically paused his meeting with the French nationals just to meet with us – small boys who had no prophet offering. I just couldn’t believe my eyes.

See, the list is endless…but let’s leave it here for now but before I end this story;

I got an invite to his house, we spoke about few things, he pushed some buttons in me, hehehe.. now I know myself better.

Please join me to congratulate this awesome man of God, who is in a class of its own.

This is one of the ways I describe him;

3 visits, 2 contacts one product, if you want to see the product then go get my book. And just to add, he never had to lay hands on me or receive a prophet offering, he doesn’t even need it, he is a giver.

From me Apute Ben Ochuko and my wife (Dr Eguono Apute), Happy Birthday Boss.
