YOU ARE BORN TO DO GREAT THINGS {PART 6}

QUE SERA, SERA – WHY WE ARE STILL HERE?

You Are A Champion – A Problem Converter

One fundamental tool capable of changing your level from a state of being suppressed by personal, family or nation problems is knowing the truth about the nature of problems and your capacity to make a ‘champion’ out ‘problems’.

The TRUTH is a force that is capable of setting you free from the prison of powers of problem. Problem in itself has no power but the power you arrogate to it.

So what is the truth? Truth is you are bigger than any problem be it national or personal. You’ve got the power to transform Nigeria’s problems into national transformation projects. You have a great key in your inside to open door for national transformation. Yes, you are great!

There is no problem confronting your community or nation greater than your capacity to solve. Personal responsibility is the key.

Do I hear you say hey, Dr Adelaja, I am not a president, governor or minister? I am not even a local government counsellor. How can I solve the problems that even the government find too hard to solve? My answer is, the government is waiting for you. You have been empowered to do the job. Stand up and help your government. Rise up and help your country. Until you take up the responsibility of helping your country solve its problems, everyone including you will continue to suffer.

Oh, I can hear the reader of this article say Dr, the problems we are talking about have been there long before my great grandfather was born, asking me to solve problems older than me?

Oh yes, that’s true, really true, but you know what, the problems had been there, waiting for you. You are the solution. I can assure you that leaders of government at all levels have tried all they can yet no meaningful solution has been recorded. The reason is simple; nobody else can solve the problems assigned for you to solve. Not even the government.

So you’ve got to rise up, get your tools, it’s time to work.

I once shared a story of how Ora community, Oyo state Nigeria was terrorised by a set of hoodlums who had grown beyond the capacity of Area Command of The Nigeria Police Force at that time. The terrorism that lasted for almost a year was brought down less than a month when a set of landlords in the area took personal responsibilities to mobilise the young men of the community against the dare devil armed robbers.

Que Sera, Sera – Why We Are Still Here?

Que sera, sera is one of the most misquoted phrases of all time. It is a Spanish word meaning ‘whatever will be will be’. As small as this phrase is, it’s capable of causing so much danger to our productive minds and national transformation.

I am sure you must have been affected by that song too, directly or indirectly.

Que sera, sera was a popular song released in 1956, written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, sang by Normie Rowe, an Australian pop singer and as well popularised by Doris Day, a music star.

The song is regularly sung at English football matches when a losing team still hopes to cling the ticket to play, say a final match in Wembley Stadium, London, England. As expected, while 22 players slug it out on the field, tens or hundreds of thousands of spectators would sing loud and louder on top of their voices ‘Que sera sera, we are going to Wembley Stadium’. This is done in an attempt to cheer up players as well as raise hope that the team would make it to the next stage.

They would sing their thousand wishes until the referee blows the final whistle in favour or against each side of the teams. This is not funny.

Spectators could only contribute little, almost insignificant as they cannot enter the pitch and throw in ball in the net. Have you heard people saying ‘spectators are the best players?

Que sera sera raises hope on nothing that someday, ‘if our nation Nigeria is destined to witness true transformation, nothing will stop it’ or you may say ‘if we are predestined to be one of the twenty most economically prosperous giant nation, God will surely do it for us’.

This is erroneously wrong! It’s the highest level of irresponsibility which takes a nation to nowhere.

Faith Or Faithlessness

‘‘Faith has a responsibility. Faith requires something of those who claim to hold it. That something is a responsibility to action in terms of that faith’’. Christopher J. Ortiz

When citizens rely on faith that if any problem is destined to be solved, it will definitely be solved and decide to do nothing, their faith irrespective of religion of practice will yield no result. I call such faith Que sera, sera faith, it will lead the nation to nowhere.

Are You A Spectator?

It is sad, very sad to know that the highest population of Nigerians who should be productive enough to trigger unprecedented transformation are on ‘spectator side’ and that account for why we have achieved nothing compared to our potentials.

Go through the pages of newspapers, Facebook, twitter and other social media platforms daily, hour minutes and seconds, you will see floods of anger, frustration, regret curses on government officials expressed by Nigerians.

You need to begin checking your life now to know if you are spectator or an actor, a player in the game of a new Nigeria. This is not difficult to unravel. Do you complain bitterly about the way your community or nation is governed without any proactive step to change the order? Do you raise all your hopes on government or God? If yes, you are a spectator, a problem compounder.  Can you remember the last community problem you solved or contributed to? If no, you are the chief among the spectators.

As sport spectators, problem compounders only enjoy pleasure of watching active players engage in activities or they dissipate energies complaining bitterly against some players.

Dear reader, it’s time to cross from spectator side to active players’ side of national transformation through taking personal responsibility.

In this game, enrollment is easier, unlike in football; you get the jersey you desire. You choose the wing suitable for you by selecting and volunteering for problems of choice to address. It’s that simple.  So simple!

To be continued Tomorrow, don’t miss it.
