12-year old Jayden Hammond from Chicago, IL is the founder of J-Rock’s Pop Gourmet Vegan Popcorn, which sells organic popcorn made with premium ingredients like organic coconut oil. The business idea was inspired by his desire to live a healthy lifestyle, a life-long love of homemade popcorn, and a passion for social entrepreneurship.

All in the family

Jaymond comments, “For years, my family and I have enjoyed vegan popcorn as our favorite homemade snack, especially on movie nights. Since my mom is a health coach and my father is studying to be an acupuncturist, they have trained me and my sister to make healthy choices. So, we like to experiment with our popcorn by using different seasonings and toppings.”

With the guidance of his parents, he decided long ago that he wanted to be a business owner for the rest of my life! “They tell me all the time that it will be best to own my own business so that I can be in full control of my life,” he says.

What makes his popcorn different

As mentioned before, J-Rock’s popcorn is 100% vegan and organic. In addition, it is naturally gluten-free and has no artificial ingredients, dairy, GMOs, high-fructose corn syrup or preservatives.

Even more, there are three unique flavors available: J-Rock’s Classic, which is sort of garlicky and cheesy; Ethiopian Barbecue which is a little spicy and sweet; and Plain which is simple, yet delicious too. He has more flavors in the works coming soon.

In addition, unlike other major popcorn companies, Jayden’s company gives back. He donates 5% of all profits to benefit the current water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
