WHAT IS A LOW YIELDING LIFESTYLE VS A HIGH-YIELDING LIFESTYLE?

From my studies, I have come to discover that most people don’t know how to model their lifestyle in such a way as to make it a high-yielding lifestyle. Unfortunately, our environment and surrounding don’t always enhance a high-yielding lifestyle. In most cases we all leave in an environment of low-yielding lifestyle. Only a very few of us have the privilege of been in the company of highly effective individuals.

These group of people are usually in the range of 1% to 3 % of our world. Most of the people we relate with are not in the category. A large majority of us will never have the opportunity to be in the company or be in close proximity to people who live the high-yielding life style, especially those in the top 3% of human effectiveness. It is even rarer to be mentored by any of these world’s great achievers. Today however, I wish to share with you one of the great secrets of highly effective people.

Friends, it is all about lifestyle. Most of the people who struggle with life, have a lifestyle that inhibits them from being as successful as they had desired to become. As simple and mundane as this argument could seem, normally some of the greatest secrets in life always sound simple.

WHAT IS A LOW YIELDING LIFESTYLE VS A HIGH-YIELDING LIFESTYLE?

Ladies and gentlemen, I think by now you would like to know what a low-yielding lifestyle vs a high-yielding lifestyle is. High-yielding lifestyle are activities that are focused on doing those things that give you long term satisfaction rather than immediate pleasure. Whereas a low-yielding activity are actions, behaviors and attitudes that focus on immediate positive responses, rather than on the long term reward. A high-yielding lifestyle, always focuses itself on activities that have to do with the future. On the other hand, a low-yielding lifestyle focuses on actions that brings immediate or almost immediate satisfaction.

In most cases, human nature wants to have immediate responses from people that are satisfactory rather than repulsive so most of us would be readily satisfied with any activities that causes our approval rather than rejection. We want people to like us. We want them to applaud us. We want to be welcomed. We want people to be happy with us. These are the kind of focuses that lead to low-yielding activities and lifestyle.

On the other hand, low yielding activities focus on our pleasure and on getting it met almost immediately. For example we would rather sit down to watch TV rather than pay the price to build relationships. We would rather spend time shopping than go to work in the laboratory. Most people will prefer dressing up nicely every day than going to the library every day.

To be continued tomorrow…
