I recently released my thoughts on the Biafra agitation going on in my home land Nigeria. This is one of the numerous responses I have gotten from my fellow country men, some of whom once supported the idea of the Biafra republic.

Please read, share and keep believing in a united and glorious Nigeria. If you missed my article on my thoughts on the Biafra agitation please click HERE to read it.

For the love of God, church and Nation

Dr. Sunday Adleaja

Dear Dr. Sunday,

I am sorry sir, I read in your writeup that you are not a prophet nor a son of a prophet, but I do know you were kidding us. There are various kinds of prophets and there is one kind of prophet. Among the various and a kind your a kind.

Only few men have your prophetic insight into issues. And your bold stand for the nation is unequalled. Your stand gave my voice a covering in the last political electioneering. This I won’t like to mention here. In all these times you have wisely, boldly, toughly and insightful, above all is your selflessness that ices it all.

The insight you just brought in I wish it could publish on our major dailies. I wish we also have two men of your status or level of influence in our nation with your kind of insight to matters our nation will be on the flight mode now. Some of us who have this kind of insight have not yet risen to that point of national influence. I think our Igbo brethren understand it only some few noise makers that do not understand the consequences of what they demanding for. But thank God you are making it more vivid.

My Igbo brothers and sisters are the most discriminating among all other tribes and nationality. You can’t find another tribe in the state government, they won’t allow you own business slot in their major market etc. They got their investment scattered around the country mostly in the north.

So they should let us come together and build the nation which has given them the platform to build. They are recognised and honored because we are big economy and a big market. This is a well known fact. This is also a factor in favour us all. We need this factor to play the game in international politics.

Sir I await your next publication.

Even the bitterest adversaries of the Igbo cannot but admit that, as a people, they are very resourceful and ingenious. Indeed, this has often been the cause of their envy and dislike by others. (Opeyemi Odu, Nigerian Monitor. 2years ago) I won't fail to point out the flaws in your write up Victor Ogbijah. 1. You wrote; My Igbo brothers and sisters are the most discriminating among all other tribes and nationality. This is "a misstatement". The Igbos are very accommodating and reside everywhere in Nigeria. They believe in one Nigeria, this is why they build houses and open multiplicity of businesses, industries and raise families everywhere in Nigeria. There is no part of Nigeria where you won't find the Igbos, they feel at home, they feel it is their country and invest in it. Question to you Victor Ogbijah, How many people from other Nigerian tribes, invest in the south east, raise families and build houses? 2. You wrote; You can’t find another tribe in the state government. Victor Ogbijah, which state in Nigeria has Igbos as part of the inner caucus of governance? If you can't mention any state, then this statement is unfounded. As long as we still ask for state of origin and tribe when filling forms in Nigeria, instead of just asking for state of residence. Then this may never be in Nigeria. 3. You wrote; They won’t allow you own business slot in their major market. Victor Ogbijah, Do you have any proof? Have you tried to seek business license and they refused? 4. You wrote, They got their investment(s; emphasis mine) scattered around the country mostly in the north. Well said, Igbos are mostly entrepreneurs and industrialists rising with just 20 pound ex-gratia (some may argue that they didn't even merit this amount) after the war, their natural inclination towards economic activities has driven them across the nation(globe) in search of opportunities. The Igbos have proven to the rest of Nigeria beyond every reasonable doubt that they are not lazy people,. They possess an industrial spirit and make progress with little or no government support. If this is wrong too, then so be it. While I strongly believe in a united Nigeria, I must say that the cry for secession among the Igbos is a worthy cry. So cover it, paint it, hide it, and even pretend it doesn't exist. Since the end of the civil war in 1970, the Federal Government has operated a policy of DISCRIMINATION and MARGINALIZATION against the Igbos.
Dear Chukwudi Okonkwo From you write up, it is clear that you d not know what it means to be accomodating. That Igbos have built thriving business, raised families and are livng in all parts of Nigeria shows he accomodating and hospitable their host are. That No thee tribes owns investment in Igbo land indicates that their Igbos are not good host (this maybe a perception or a fact). It is the host who is described as accommodating and hospitable and not the visitor. Their are definitely attributes that can be credited to the visitor but it is certainly not accommodating or Hospitable. Lagos has Igbo commissioners, it had Igbos who contested for Chairmanship positions.
