THE MINDSET OF GREATNESS (PART 2)

WHY MANY ARE NOT IN THE LEAGUE OF THE GREATS.

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” ― Mark Twain

In his own words “My mind has really been stretched as I witnessed their lifestyles, right before my very own eyes. What we always pray and fast for, they have it without any prayer and fasting. I have come to conclude that the distance between where they are and where I currently am is the usage of my time.

I can climb right to the top and have extraordinary achievements, only if I make every moment count. I have seriously cut back on the time I spend sleeping. I have cut back on friends and now most of the time; I am indoors siting behind the computer, till the early hours of the morning, if I am not at work.”

Dear friends, this lesson about time that my friend pointed out is his main lesson from the lifestyle of the three billionaires he worked with, is only just one of the different mentalities and values that make great people great. Great people are great because they relate to time differently than ordinary people. Again I wish to say, this is just one of the values that make great people great.

I never knew a man come to greatness or eminence who lay abed late in the morning.” – Jonathan Swift

This week we are going to dig even deeper. We are going to be talking about the mentality of greatness in general. One of their mentalities is what we have seen above. They relate differently to time. But that is not the only thing they do differently from ordinary mortals.

Before I go into the other secrets of what makes great people great, let me first elucidate more on our topic – THE MENTALITY OF GREATNESS.

Every greatness, all forms of greatness either it is financial greatness, political greatness, social greatness or spiritual greatness. All forms of greatness are as a result of a mindset, which I call mentality in this article. Everything friends, depends on mindsets, world-views and paradigms.

“Great men are not born great, they grow great . . .” ― Mario Puzo

Great men therefore are mainly great, thanks to their mindsets. Their greatness is a result of the mindset they successfully cultivated. As in many aspects of life, greatness is a product of a certain mindset.

Ladies and gentlemen, it would not be a curse if I say some people will never experience greatness. Why? Because their mindset would never permit them. Between you and your potential greatness stands an obstacle. That obstacle is your mindset. Why are you not in the league of the greats? It is simple, because you have been limited by your present mindset. Most people would not want to believe that there could be something wrong with them, or with their current way of thinking. Most people are naturally proud. We convince ourselves that we are okay. We argue and fight to consolidate our positions.

Sometimes even when destiny wishes to favor us and allows us to hear or read something that is not common to our ears, we mostly fight the uncommon thoughts, trying to rather affirm our positions.

Well, that is a mindset. Most of us unfortunately are in captive of our mindset.  We are held as prisoners by our own way of thinking. Yet we defend it, we protect that same mentality, not knowing it is the gulf between us and the greatness we so greatly crave for.

To be continued tomorrow…
