My Interview With The Nation Newspaper On Nigeria And The Church. – Part 10

from: 03 . 08 . 15

In the real sense we don’t teach people that the possibility of miracle is not the order of the day. It is only two percent of our daily life that should depend on miracles from God. The order of life is the observation of God’s laws and order. Obedience to the laws of God and the society brings wealth and blessings. There are a lot of faulty teachings that have been promoted through the pulpit of this country. They have led to the fact that a whole generation of people have now grown up in those teachings thinking that is the way life works. When things don’t work out the way they expect, they think something is wrong with them.

Today, another teaching we have that is faulty is that we tell people to just pray, as if production comes only by prayers. But in the real sense, productivity doesn’t come by prayer, productivity comes by labor. It is through work that we have productivity.

In Nigeria as a result, most people will rather go to church than go to work. Most people will rather spend the whole day in church, rather than going to spend 18 hours at work. Most people will rather spend a whole week or two fasting and praying. Most people go to the mountain for months, while they have an able body. We neglect the value of labor, yet we are expecting our economy to prosper. We complain why we live so badly, is it not obvious now?
