IF YOU GET FIVE MILLION DOLLARS TODAY, HOW WOULD YOU SPEND IT?

  • During one of my numerous seminars, I asked these two questions: Would you like God to entrust you with millions? If your answer is yes, what would you do if someone gives you five million dollars?
  • I want to share some of the responses I got from people who thought they were ready to be millionaires.
  • THE FIRST PERSON SAID: I would fast, pray and ask God what he wants me to do with the money. – This is no answer at all because if we do not already know what we need money for, then we really do not need it.
  • Money comes only in response to vision. Vision leads to provision.
  • THE SECOND PERSON SAID: I have a few ideas. I would buy a piece of property and build a rehabilitation center. I would buy building for other ministries and help them financially. – This sounds worthwhile and spiritual, but spending money that way only leads to spending all the money reserved and soon that person is penniless again.
  • Before spending on charities, multiply it first.
  • THE THIRD PERSON SAID: I would invest the money in arts and media for the word of God to be preached on television and theaters. – This answer is similar to the first previous one, in that this mind set only devours the finances instead of generating a source, by which more funds can be generated for future use.
  • THE FOURTH PERSON SAID: I would build homes for homeless people. I would also give money to students who can’t pay for their education. – A wrong understanding of money assume that their first duty to money is to spend it. On the contrary!
  • The first law of money says: do not spend it; invest it instead.
  • THE FIFTH PERSON SAID: I would invest the money and make a profit. Then I would buy a building for the church. – This answer is much better.
  • The response I received from my own congregation shows that only one out of five Christians understands what to do with money. This number might even be higher in other parts of the world.
  • For most of us a single day would probably be enough to dispose of the money and be left with nothing.
  • This is the problem of not knowing and abiding by the laws of money.
  • Wise people know they only spend the proceeds from one’s capital but never the basic capital

This knowledge is too much for me. Am I permitted to share these timeless truths on other forums and perhaps websites so more people can lay hold of these principles and become free from ignorance. Thanks.
