THE CHURCH IS NOT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

• Many erroneously believe that the church and the Kingdom are synonymous terms
• Jesus demonstrated through His teachings and lifestyle that the church and the Kingdom of God, while integrally related, are not synonymous.
• When Christ introduced the church, He declared: “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). His next words to the disciples were: “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven” (:19)
• It is clear that in that discourse Jesus took the responsibility for building His church, while giving His disciples the keys of the Kingdom.
• He gave them the responsibility for extending the Kingdom of heaven on the earth: His righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost
