YOU ARE BORN TO DO GREAT THINGS {PART 7}

ARE YOU A PROBLEM CONVERTER OR A PROBLEMS COMPOUNDER?

I will like to categorise people into two major distinct groups based on how they respond or react to problems in the society. Problems being referred to here could be personal, family, community or national.

The two groups are Problems Converters and Problems Compounders. The Problems Converters are the productively passionate people who feel uncomfortable with problems and determine to take personal responsibility towards solving or contributing to solving the problems.

On the other hand, Problems Compounders are the people who complain about the problems without any conscious efforts towards proffering solutions to the problems. Which category do you think you belong to?

Problems Converters turn the problem into prosperity for someone, themselves or the society. They see opportunities in every problem while Problems Compounders see problems in every single problem, they compound every simple problem into complex ones by complaining, doing nothing and thereby becoming nothing. Compounders create problems from every single problem.

Have you ever come across this popular adage: ‘If you are not solving a problem, then you are adding to the existing ones’?

You must have created thousands of problems unknowingly by being on the side of problems compounders.

The compounders take solace in complaining against or attacking the acclaimed originator of the problems, the neighbour, community leaders, religious leaders or the government. They are experts in amplifying and magnifying problems. They can turn stony problems into Mountainous challenges. They can turn a molehill into a giant mountain.

Our country is backward today because vast majority of the population belongs to the class of Problems Compounder, may be including you. Probably less than 5% are Problem Converters.

Are you worried what category you belong, converter or compounder? It is not so difficult to know the side you are in. Have you ever solved a problem to help the society outside your immediate family? If your answer is no! Then you are a Problem Compounder, a major contributor to the country’s problems.

Examples Of Problems Compounders Or Converters.

The story of Dayo Olakulehin we discussed earlier in the week is a perfect example of problems converters. He was able to convert locally identified problems into a global enterprise. He converted the problems into creating employment opportunities for countless numbers of people which include members of staff working with him as well as marketers of the products worldwide.

Problem compounders are everywhere. They are not difficult to identify. Like I said in the second paragraph above, when you choose to complain and do nothing, you are already compounding the problems on ground. Many people are into crimes all because of problems of unemployment, thereby creating more problems for the society. Who says you cannot create an NGO that caters for the unemployed or have an idea that employs others?

Are you feeling guilty of inaction on your path? Never worry, there is good news. I can sense the beginning of transformation. You can become a problem solver from today.

The Good News

Yes, there is a good-news, the hope has not been totally lost. You still have the opportunity to switch from being a Problem Compounder to being a problem converter. In fact, that is the essence of this article in your hand. That you have devoted your time to read to this point is evidence that you are determined to cross carpet to the productive side. You have my assurance that before finishing this article and the book, your life must have been transformed into a national transformation agent.

Danger Of Staying A Problem Compounder

We have established that the business of Problem Compounders is to either complain or attack. They are usually comfortable sitting on the fence, rather than taking a rough path to success. After reading this article and you still fail to take personal responsibility towards transforming your society, then you have chosen to be a problem compounder. Did I hear you say God forbid! Don’t just say it, I believe you are getting equipped for the change!

Isaiah Hankel, a fortune consultant, international speaker, and author, in an article published in Entrepreneur magazine stated that,

‘Your problems are proportional to the amount of time you spend complaining about your problems’

I agree with him absolutely! The problem of our country is proportional to how many complainers we have castigating others for their problems.

The more you complain, the more the problems and conversely, the less the numbers of complainers the fewer our national problems and the better our country becomes.

I will personally appeal to you to cross over from the camp of problem compounders. The more we keep complaining about our problems the more the attention and energy we waste. Since consistent attention produces both kinetic and potential energy, it is pertinent we divert all of our attention on proffering solutions to our various problems.

Here is what I mean, it is more productive to focus on using the time and other resources researching on what can be done to change the situation than wasting the time and efforts only discussing the problems. Chances are rare, if not impossible that you will ever get paid complaining, whereas if you just make little effort thinking or working on solution, you may hit a breakthrough for life. Thinking about problems only drains you but exercising your mind towards solution can supply you more life, full of energy.

Your problem is not a problem until you make it a problem. It is just there to bring out a champion in you. More so, a problem that is national in outlook creates an opportunity for you to be a national champion.
