REASONS WHY BOOKS SHOULD BE YOUR BEST FRIEND.
For me personally, I have decided to follow in the example of God Himself. One day, I like all men would leave this world. I too would go the way of all men. Meaning I would follow suit in the path of Jesus. Remember God took his Son and gave us His book, when I go, I am going to leave my books. When I go I believe the best thing I can do is to leave my books just like God left us with His book.
WHY BOOKS SHOULD BE YOUR BEST FRIEND.
1. BOOKS CANNOT TELL YOUR SECRETS.
Most of us are left disgusted and bitter because some of our so called friends, they go and tell our stories and secrets to other people. This leads to frustrations, anger and bitterness. When you keep friends of books, when you would rather read books than go gossip, you will never have to worry about violation of privacy. Those books even though they might be sleeping on the same bed with you, they would still not violate your privacy.
Despite the fact that the books might be a witnesses to some of your secrets and some of them might actually be taking place in the presence of those books, yet they will not tell anyone about them. What I am trying to say is that with books as your best friends, you could live your life freely without accusations, without condemnations and without guilt.
- Friends could blackmail you, but books will never.
- Friends could threaten you, but books will never.
- Friends might misuse you, but books will never.
- People could disclose your secrets, but books will never.

2. BOOKS ARE NON-DEMANDING FRIENDS.
We all have experienced relationships whereby the only thing our so called friends want from us, is always one thing or the other. Not so with books. Books will not run you out of town because of one demand or the other.

I remember when I was living in the dormitory as a student in the university. I lived on the eight floor of a thirteen floor hostel. You could basically have no rest because of your neighbors coming to ask for salt or pepper in the wee hours of the night. Some come for soup or meat. Others come for bread or butter. As a matter of fact some of these people only remember your name and where you live, when they need something. Since some of them speak Spanish or French, it’s only when they come around for something, you discover that you are actually their friend. You begin to hear statements like “are you there amigo?” or “are you at home mon ami?”
Close to twenty-five years after I have left the university, I still cannot forget those nocturnal knocks on the door, of calls of my friend, my friend in different languages. Of course you all know how those kind of short lived friendships end. They are friendships out of needs and demands. As soon as these wonderful friends get what they came for, they almost immediately forget that they just referred to you as a friend a minute ago. You would never have that kind of dilemma with books. Books will not run you out of town because of needs and demands.
